I have already inquired into the idea as a resolution on solving the 1D barcode issue.

The response from mgmt. was it would be to costly to the cell phone manufacturers. BUT, with the new merger I would guess anything is possible and it would be beneficial in cornering the U.S. market since 1D codes are the mostly used here in the United States.
