I don't know what's happened to Intel's process technology.
This has been pretty well documented in various places on the web. For 10nm they were more aggressive on M1 pitch than anybody else using non-EUV technology, and it killed them. The tighter pitch also forced them to convert M1 to cobalt, which was having significant material issues, like cracking. It was a really bad decision. OTOH, it is a bridge others might still need to cross, which helps INTC in the longer term. I think even with EUV litho to print the tighter M1 pitch, they still need to deal with the cobalt issues. The bigger issue for INTC is to see if they can really build a successful business outside of X86...
