Right. I call them "celebrity darling" stocks -- everyone just wants to have them for their recognizable name value. Big brokerages buy them for their dumb clients just so that the clients will feel "secure" in owning a well-known stock-name.

That's how you get these ridiculous valuations on some of these "celebrity darlings."

TSLA +31 to 578, is on an epic run, but has been a good short play on numerous occasions over the last 7 years. Just pull up the chart. The stock hit $265 in Feb 2014 and over the next 5 years oscillated up and down before hitting a low of $211 last August .... so the stock was DOWN 20% over that 5+ year period whereas the S&P500 was up over 50%. It's been a good stock for trading, both long and short, but timing is everything and easier said than done.

At some point this momentum run will come to an end, but who knows when ? The next catalyst will be the earnings next week.

hardcore: TSLA

Sick, if U ask me. How many people in China can afford a Tesla? Actually, with a middle class of 300M and growing, maybe an amazing number in a decade or sooner.

OT: I have seen only a few Teslas on the road in Maryland, but they are eye-catching. The design is great. Caution: Do not drive a Tesla or a Lexus in Baltimore, the car hi-jacking capitol of North America.
