Polartec is working on the upcoming launch of the first spider silk fabrics in collaboration with Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, a biotechnology company specializing in the development and marketing of spider silk. Originally developed for specialized military applications, these unique materials made from recombinant spider silk will soon be marketed on the world market for technical textiles and clothing. These completely renewable, biodegradable and biocompatible "super fibers" are fine, light, flexible, resilient, exceptionally strong and have strength / weight ratios more comparable to aramid fibers than other high performance fibers today.
