This is probably just the first step. It actually makes sense when you consider that this is just a tactic to achieve a different objective. The idea is to try to keep Trump on the defensive. It will fail when Trump mounts a counter offensive. Expect it to happen when the timing is right.

Pelosi and the House Democrats are in a serious bind here. They expected the Senate to immediately block impeachment, which lets them claim the republicans are corrupt. They didn’t count on Trump and McConnell prepping an actual trial designed to exonerate Trump and subpoena Hunter Biden, as well as keep Trump’s major opponents stuck in Senate hearings the entire campaign, which is the current plan. Think about it: McConnell can call a hearing during critical periods of the campaign and Biden and Warren have to attend. Biden will have to sit there while he and he son are exposed as criminals while Trump campaigns in small town America. This shit is made for the history books.
