Wrong, day traders don't look at news or filings etc. They set up a daily or evening watchlist with their own algorithms and trade the most volatile ones on an upswing. Full time day traders look at candle stick trends and have their own set of very strict rules on entry and exit. They are usually in and out in approx 20 minutes give or take!
