What are the origins of this story?

IIRC the story was that there was a deal with a company and the CEO who made the deal left that company and the deal evaporated. That doesn't sound like a formally press released story. Was it in an email? You are attaching some level of significance to it as if it actually happened so I'm asking you where you heard about it. If you can link it I'll try to track it back.
