That’s short volume, not short interest (aka short positions). It is best to read up on Riskless principle to understand the difference between daily short volume and factual short Interest as provided by FINRA. They are not the same.

Short volume is not meaningful anyway. It records the initial leg of the transaction, while the FTD Report records the final disposition of all short volume transactions after the settlement period of T+2 days.

If a stock lacks any significant FTDs, it doesn’t have a problem with short interest.

This is short interest, 9982 shares (less than $1) - obviously not abusive:

Short volume is a function of one side of a stock trade and has no bearing on the short interest in a Company, such SPRV.

The SHORT INTEREST, as reported to FINRA, is the outstanding number of shares that have been sold short. As of today, the GRAND TOTAL of shares being held by short sellers is less than 10,000 shares, with a current total value of less than a dollar.

It appears even the less than astute short sellers, knowing there is no money to be made after a company's share price falls to .0001, have abandoned SPRV in search of real shorting opportunities!

TRYING TO CLAIM THERE ARE SHORT SELLERS HANGING AROUND HERE, WHEN THE SHARE PRICE HAS ALREADY BOTTOMED AT .0001, COMPLETELY IGNORES THE FACT THERE ARE BAD STOCKS, WHICH CAN ACTUALLY GO LOWER, FINALLY BOTTOMING AT .0001. THIS IS WHERE THE SHORT SELLERS ARE DOING THEIR THING! NOT HERE AT SPRV, WHEN SHARE PRICE CAN GO NO LOWER, MEANING THERE IS NO MONEY TO BE GAINED SHORTING SPRV!

EVEN THE RENAISSANCE VILLAGE IDIOT WOULDN'T SHORT SPRV!

The volumebot link you provided says that the short volume indicator for SPRV is neutral. That means, that short volume does not indicate a short squeeze. This site also says that Veronica Fox's interpretation is correct, though there may be some usefulness in the short volume, it doesn't necessarily mean massive shorting. At 0.0001, I can't imagine even that there are 9,000 shorts or whatever the number is. There's nothing to be made shorting SPRV at this point. Maybe if there were more volatility there would be some value in shorting this, but there won't be a short squeeze with the short interest at this point. I do appreciate the explanation of short volume I've heard on this board, as I've never really heard it discussed. I've always simply considered short interest without even thinking about short volume, so it's good to learn about that metric. I presume you are long, so I wish you well in this gamble (or investment, if you prefer).
