Personally I don't discriminate. I hold doors for both genders all the time.

edit the correct response to this woman is "You're Welcome."

Dream, In the 90's, in a Sydney high-school, i held a door into a history staff room for a young English teacher
and was abused for it. Not only not thanked, but roundly abused. "You should not have done that", she said angrily.

All my life i have also been, with others here who have said it, an open the door for everyone guy.

Heh, also only last week a woman walked through a door held open for her without a word. I said to her back, "You're welcome." So am with you guys there too.

It's simply consideration. Doesn't have to be, and shouldn't be, anything more.

Is it wrong to open a door for a woman nowadays?

Maybe we shouldn't open a door for anyone anymore.

I don't think so....

In my line of work I'm with blue and white collar folks. I hold the door open for everyone from the crosseyed grandmother to the green young buck.

Either way, you always hold the door for anyone and make sure that they don't bump into the walls.

I've lived and worked around Chicago for going on 50 years now and I've never seen the description you just gave. Seems to me a little hogshit is trying to take wing again.

Its a courtesy not an obligation but simple courtesies are sorely lacking these days to our societies detriment.

She walked in and said "Thank you, but I can open a door myself."

I don't believe you. This sounds like fake news.
