I think it is a sandbag...
This means the product will get around 150 specfp_rate, versus the current opteron and cloverton around 100. This is with the new opteron core and twice as many cores... I was thinking 175 to 200 would be a more reasonable number, given fast enough memory.
I do think even with the faster FSB and more cache in a dual die (quad core) Penryn CPU INTC will have a hard time keeping up. I think it will take Nehalem to match this product in specfp... I think specfp is the one benchmark Opteron will continue to do well on.
