If prosecutors can file criminal charges against private citizens for hangnails relatively speaking, surely a case for criminal charges of this magnitude can be made here. That is IF rule of law were applied equally and fairly across the ENTIRE population. Is there a folk song here?

Uh, private individuals cannot file criminal charges...it would require a prosecutor to file charges at the federal level. All or most elements of of a crime per a federal statute needs to be satisfied before a prosecutor would file charges. I'm not aware there has ever been any criminal investigation as regards the GSE Saga, it's doubtful to happen under the present administration in my opinion, and there are likely statutes of limitations in play (I haven't researched and I don't plan on it as i'm not a budding prosecutor but knock yourself out).
