I am really surprised that in many cases just like here, there is a huge number of investors that do not thoroughly read filings or anything more than a couple of pages. I understand the fact that filings are in most cases about the most boring of anything I read. Investors are much more likely to pour over press releases and pick them apart item by item because they are short and to the point. The problem is that companies have a lot more leeway in what is said in a press release than in filings. They cannot lie in filings or they face jail time if it is fraud. On the other hand, they can construct press releases that are still truthful but lead you make further conclusions that are often incorrect.
