I suspect that yesterday's strong price action was not just Needham. I think that Needham may have triggered some short covering.....a modest short squeeze.

You have checked their historic BUYS and SELLS?

No, I didn't actually do any research on them after seeing their buy recommendation. But I've been a biotech investor for 25 years, and their upgrades and downgrades are based on solid fundamental reasoning, and usually move the stock in the direction you'd think it would go. With Roth and some others, you see a buy rating and the stock ends up down for the day. Why? Becuase it pops on the upgrade and then they (or their clients) sell off that gain. Just like paying pumpers to boost a stock on iHub so that person can sell. But Needham gives real fundamental info that makes sense, and you can see their logic in the upgrade or downgrade (or initiation of coverage). And they're fairly influential. Not the biggest by any means, but big enough to move a stock. And they've been around a while. I'd say 25 years at least, though I could be wrong about that. Definitely not a new company though, that's for sure.
