I seem to recall other post CTSO treatment deaths, but those were usually related to the sickest of the sick and there was a long delay in using CytoSorb. That and the multiple underlying pathologies in that group. This guy was on the razors edge health wise if he coded on induction of anesthesia, it’s rare. His fragile state and 30 minutes of resuscitation were more than likely responsible for the anoxic injury. The human body has a remarkable ability to recover but it can only overcome so much, despite the edge the beads provide.
