we are morons
with a few at least we can fake it.

Can't be too precious or pedantic about accuracy and precision but we
can fuel it where we can and I reckon our texts would have expunged
from many nations and individuals credit where credit was due as nobody
who has ever invented or written anything got it out of a vacuum.

detail for brevity and flow in saying

"Gutenberg invented removable type and the Bible.", yep,
there is some doubt about just about everything. Wik says,

"Although movable type was known in Korea in the 13th century, Gutenberg's
printing technology was most likely an independent invention." ...but we really,
really don't know, do we.

Sometimes fealty is consistent with reality, sometimes it obscures the vision.
