KHC is showing positive earnings. It's just that they declined YoY (see chart below).
The real problem now is to reverse a decline that did not occur overnight, AND the dividend exceeds their income so it may need to be cut again. Ouch!
But Kraft is the size of an aircraft carrier which can take 7 minutes to do a 180 if the aircraft are tied down.
The Street doesn't believe they are turning the company around. In their world it's happening too slowly. They won't believe it until they see the numbers or hear revised guidance.
I like watching the PR's and social media for real time news.
It sure looks as if they are executing on a turnaround strategy that they haven't announced yet. The indications are evident that something is in the works.
For instance, this is a whole new product line.
Kraft Heinz debuts new ancient grains-centric brand
CHICAGO — The Kraft Heinz Co. is homing in on ancient grains with the launch of Amazing Grains, a new brand of convenient mini meals made with ancient grain ingredients.
Perhaps the turnaround plan announcement in December will include acts of evidence already in the works, and more to excite the analysts.
$90+ to $25 is a huge drop. I wonder how The Street will react if KHC can post an EPS that's just a little higher than the dividend? Will the PPS be pummeled?
What if they meet or even beat the forecast (below). Nailing the 60¢ estimate IMO would be quite the home run.
A beat would be like Christmas coming in November, and make for a very Happy Thanksgiving.
