Here are several serious answers to your dilema of of not being able to read the fonts:
1. Go to trifocals, not bifocals. Bifocals have two lenses, one for reading up close, the other for far away. Trifocals add a third focal length at about 20 inches, just right for a computer monitor. I have the lineless ones, and they take a couple days to get used to, but are no big deal. The only problems are when you need to read somthing at eye level or above, or when you want to look for something you dropped on the floor.
2. Cut the resolution on your monitor, say from 1280x1024 to 1024x768.
3. Get a bigger monitor. My father, now into his 80s, just moved to a 30" monitor. You can read it from across the room. LOL
