Most probably. When I began to trade, back in 1997, I did it a couple times, but I understood very quickly that it is a big mistake.

One week later, I saw the stock I was in before, running like crazy, and the one I bought, stagnant or going down.

I totally agree. Better to be patient and wait for the run on the one you already have.
