PS: The later story is a true one. It came from a very well placed Corporate multimillionaire. There wasn't a good ending prescribed for the lower or middle class in the US.

No Help needed. Retirement accounts in US were sacked in 2008-2010...fact. So was manufacturing over many years after 1992.
