American Airlines beats by $0.09, reports revs in-line; guides FY19 EPS in-line (28.29 ) :
Reports Q3 (Sep) earnings of $1.42 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.09 better than the S&P Capital IQ Consensus of $1.33; revenues rose 3.0% year/year to $11.91 bln vs the $11.93 bln S&P Capital IQ Consensus. Driven by a 3 percentage point increase in total passenger load factor, passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) grew 3% to a record 14.50 cents.Excluding fuel and net special items, third-quarter 2019 CASM was 11.07 cents, up 5% year over year due primarily to higher salaries and benefits, maintenance and regional expense, and lower than planned capacity.
Co issues in-line guidance for FY19, sees EPS of $4.50-5.50 from $4.50-6.00, excluding non-recurring items, vs. $4.93 S&P Capital IQ Consensus.
American expects its fourth-quarter 2019 TRASM to be flat to up 2% year over year. The company also expects its fourth-quarter 2019 pre-tax margin excluding net special items to be between 5% and 7%.
