there's two psychological phenomena here:

1. Iron lung syndrome: People despise that which saves them from certain demise.

2. Battered woman syndrome: People defend an abusive partner irrespective of the harm caused.

BUT THE THIRD AFFLICTION IS THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CURRENT CONDITIONS:


Stockholm Syndrome: refers to symptoms that may occur in a person who is in a hostage situation or otherwise held prisoner. Typically, these feelings can be described as sympathy toward captors or the development of a bond with the captor or captors.

people trapped and in fact imprisoned I the stock because market sales would create a sub-penny bid therefore develop an abnormally strong, defensive stance vs their captor.

believe it's time to call this disease for what it is and rip the bandaid off as quickly as possible, as that's the only cure.
