Now don't get me started on the biggest spy program the NSA/CIA/FBI has ever created - Facebook. Anyone remember the billions spent on Carnivore? Another spy program gone underground. Never heard the Google rumor though. The Internet was awesome, until the U.S. Government started monitoring it in the 2000's.
All of these are prime examples of why you want secured/encrypted communications.
