However so far for the last 19 months, I am up nicely on the short side overall for my stock portfolio. In 2018, I made 42% on the short side, which offset my sizable losses on the long side for a net 13% gain. For 2019, I am net up only 8% at present, but this after getting pummeled the last couple days. I have been mostly on the short side in 2019 as well.
