When they were granted the Korean patent last year they followed that with the international patent application.

This has nothing to do with the 5 patent application pr from this year.

We only filed provisional patent applications.

A provisional patent is not a full patent application. It's a placeholder. "In the future, we are going to submit a patent on X." This is used to establish the date of discovery. Here is an entry from Wikipedia:

Under United States patent law, a provisional application is a legal document filed in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), that establishes an early filing date, but does not mature into an issued patent unless the applicant files a regular non-provisional patent application within one year. There is no such thing as a "provisional patent".

If someone else files an identical patent after we file our provisional patent, then we file our patent, we will receive the patent because our provisional patent took precedence.

We have a year to submit the actual patent. Then we wait a while longer to see if the actual patent was awarded. Likely more years before we know the status of these patents, even if they are awarded on the first submission.
