I would agree BillyJay! I don’t think they have come this far to close up shop! This wasn’t a Hail Mary attempt at getting a contract...they won it! There are other contracts but let’s see what they do to fix this. I believe they will remedy the situation as well. Time will tell. Great opportunity presenting itself to those who believe. I know I do!
In addition, the Tristar tanker fleet is going to get used by someone as stated in my various briefs.
Even if TMPS don't get a re-written / replacement contract from the USN soon, if the USAF goes ahead with its solicitation for bids from a large conglomerate (Airbus or Northrop / Grumman) for contracted out refueling for an element of the mission, the winner is likely to be buying up all offered pre-owned tankers to get started as they are almost immediately available and much cheaper than an Airbus M330 MRTT at around $280M > $300M each depending on mission equipment specification.
$TMPS also has several multi-year, multi-$M DoD contracts for the provision and operation of "special operations" aircraft.
