Retail cannot trade a small amount in a 5th digit, only MM's can do that. MM's will know if something is getting filed or news will be out, news can come in from any source like facebook, twitter, newswire/PR, SEC filings, etc... Only way I've seen my order go through in a 5th digit was one big order getting split up in batches or MM's using a small portion of my order to send the "code". Go ahead and try it yourself, send a 700 trade and you will see it ends up being a 4th digit trade.
