If the company responded in any manner other than the way they did, they open themselves up to having to respond to every and any hit-piece. I'd much rather they spend their time and $$ focusing on what they do best!
As for the hit piece...think about it logically...why would you need to take out a piece like that if you knew your short-position was solid? IMO, this presents an opportunity for many who thought PRED got away from them...like myself!!
