"Ilion police arrested Hope Charity Faith Bordynuik, 24, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, on Oct 2, 2017, and charged her with grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. The arrest stems from an incident on Sept. 17, 2017, in which Bordynuik allegedly abandoned a family member’s vehicle that reportedly ran low on gas, and stole a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu from the parking lot of the Ilion Dollar General. Bordynuik then drove the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu to the state of Ohio, where she abandoned that vehicle as well. Bordynuik waived extradition in the state of Ohio and was returned to the state of New York. Bordynuik was arraigned in village of Ilion court and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $4,000 cash bail or $8,000 bond. The Ilion Police were assisted by the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center, the Ontario Provincial Police, U.S. Department of Homeland Security – U.S. Immigration, The Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office and the Painesville Ohio Sheriff’s Department."
