ST, I agree with you too, and I think one needs a healthy dose of intuition/gut instinct/a good memory/and lots of experience to recognize scenerios/setups or repeatable patterns. I have not been successful so my hat's off to those that are.
I am leaning towards picking a trending stock and just using trendlines on a 3 yr daily chart. I can actually see that.
Some of the other patterns that are easy for me are the sling-shots and lizzards that Gloe has brought up.
JMHO cause I have a bad memory and cannot stay focused and am just barely getting better at money management.
cheers,

stock-trace - I agree with that. There is just way too much emphasis on suspected manipulation in my opinion. Thank goodness for a free press and consumer groups. Not to mention the politicians who want to make a name for themselves. This is one country where you can't hide anything for very long. Nixon, Clinton, Enron, options back dating, etc. on into the night.

Strongly agree. No question they can cause short term gyrations but I don't think they have anywhere near the degree of control that is sometimes attributed to them.

I am open to any/all hidden forces scenarios but can't string it together sometimes when I see posts about PPT, da-boyz and all this control.

I keep wondering if 'they' have so much power and want to keep john q public confidant, thn why did 'they' all the nasdaq mkt to fall from 5,000 to below 2,000 and it has never gotten anywhere back since, not when you remember 5,000
