no I just think the market they can attack gets a lot smaller in Chicago. Two of the other large waste players not have their own outlet for their recyclables. And United wants to take this model to their other large markets.
LRS is undercutting WM all around here. Hence the rapid expansion. I don’t have the figures for each town they acquired from 2018-2019, but I’d say if not 1/2 or more of the new territories just brought in were at one time a Waste Management Account. If not- Republic, Groot or some other big hitter.
I think the only one I saw where WM kept their foothold was a city/south of me about a year ago. Forgot the figures, but I think LRS underbid WM at about 120 or 150 k a year and they stayed because “they liked their service...”. Hahahahaha. Someone’s palm was greased.. and I almost bet that no one in that town knew that they just took one in the poop shooter.
LRS is quoting under WM constantly. That’s why they’re stealing business from them. Plus the idea that their garbage is going straight to a landfill doesn’t sit will for “these” people who make 150 k or more a year, have a big house near a golf course, but opt to drive Priuses so they can “do their part”.
Yep. LRS is appealing because of the Zero Landfill Policy and it feels good to know 99.999 % of their garbage will be almost completely recycled.
No more chief Hookah-Hookah sitting on a side of a Mountain looking at all the trash, congestion and carbon emission and turns around with 1 friggin year in his eye!!! (Some of you old guys and chick- do you remember that 70’s commercial?). Lol I do.. that tells you how old I am...
