The land of Quang Nam used to be a place to grow famous mulberry for raising silkworms in Dang Trong, the flourishing of the silk-weaving silk weaving industry in Quang Quang lasted at least 3 centuries. By the French colonial period, it was still the silk cradle of Indochina.

The French have invested in the biggest silk weaving nursery factory in Indochina in Giao Thuy and Dai Loc. After the liberation, Quang Nam silk is still famous, the Quang people coming to Saigon settle in to form a zone and make the famous Seven Hien weaving village, now in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City.

However, mulberry farming and silkworm rearing in Quang Nam only existed until the 1980s, then faded away and became difficult. The association also suggested that, if sustainable development of the mulberry industry in Quang Nam, Quang Nam should plan specialized areas for concentrated production.

3Dcadman - Good find.

Had to piecemeal the article through goggle translate - too many characters in the report.

A couple of comments: middle photo shows Chinese cocoons not KBL cocoons. The carding machines are antiquated and old enough to vote.

The new mulberry fields in the bottom photo are consistent with reports coming back from sources of a very successful high yield growing season for mulberry in Quang Nam since last years planting.

Fresh mulberry is an early supply chain input necessary for maintaining DS consistency and quality for tech textiles and reaching volume benchmarks.

Best regards - yankee
