I think the updates are saying more than they think. This is what I'm seeing: Their iterative approach and inability to provide definitive status on progress or target completion dates is screaming that they don't have a development plan in place. They are just making stuff up as they go along. This is a pretty shitty way to manage a project, not to mention highly inefficient. In short, their management team sucks.
