From an investment point of view for the next few years is what I was referring to
With the Republicans controlling the Senate, I don’t see MJ becoming federally legal anytime soon
The STATES ACT has a very, very small chance of passing this Congress and that’s nowhere near true federal legalization
To investors, MJ and THC have always been the sexier aspects of cannabis and the cannabinoid family, respectively
Hemp and CBD have now taken their places — true federal Hemp & Hemp-CBD legalization with complete descheduling and America’s (and the world’s) love affair with CBD have markedly changed the landscape for American cannabis investors in the public space
This has been a colossal upset
The Hemp and CBD industry were never thought of as legit competition to the MJ and THC industry until the past 6-9 months, and certainly in the investing game, Hemp and CBD were a mere footnote
The rise of CBD coupled with the near-freeze in MJ momentum since 2016 have really changed the investment game in America
I don’t think this is necessarily permanent by any means — I believe MJ and THC will dominate the 2nd half of the 2020s
2019-2024 Hemp/CBD
2025-2030 MJ/THC
