I have another basic question, or two, more related to the biological characterization of ampakine effects. First, has anyone done a sort of shotgun approach to looking at gene expression changes in rat/mouse brain after administration of ampakines. There is a growing literature on antidepressant effects on transcription and translation that links (at least correlatively) the upregulation of subsets of genes to the efficacy of the compounds. Such studies might be as informative as glucose utilization studies in evaluating the potential of ampakines in depression.

Second, inasmuch as neurotrophin upregulation has been postulated to underlie the efficacy of some antidepressants, is it possible that Organon could impinge on any turf owned by Cortex via their depression rights, or vice versa?

Actually, a third question. Not long ago cell proliferation in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampal formation was observed with antidepressant use. Has anyone tested the effects of ampakines on cell proliferation rates?
