The NOLs are still part of the game and, imo, only few people ( not the experts in dissertation ) know how they will will be used.
2 years back + 20 years forward for taxes adjustment.
Last year, Amazon paid ZERO federal taxes, on 11.8 billion profit.
Amazon NOLs were used with additional " taxes tricks ".
Amazon is also connected with Sears. Amazon likes the empty stores for aggressive expansion of Wholefood.
Roughly Amazon is an expert at not paying taxes.
Eddie Lampert already used some NOLs after the sales of stores. He is no stranger to the concept.
Sears has been " chopped " in half. The Good ( NEW ), and the Bad ( OLD ). They are still very well connected.
I am NOT having lunch with any of the top 4-5 guys ( brains ) who are in charge, but I don't mind to own the same stock of one ( at least ) of these guys. As long as Eddie Lampert owns the stock, I keep mine.
All these court documents have been written a long time ago as " template ". It is always the same documents with blank sections where the bankrupt company is written. After all it is the law, but it is like the requirement of wearing an helmet inside a construction zone.
What is important is thinking outside the box.
