#4656 RE: Zilla #4654

I used to have a wallet card.

It had a 12-bar chart showing average monthly stock market performance averaging back to early last century. That's where phrases like the one you quoted come from.

Did some searching to find a new one this morning. Couldn't find one like that and gave up. I know it's there -- just don't know where to look. It's not a good thing to have anyway.

Accidentally ran into one of those things several months back. The site was unique because one could choose the period of time that the card would cover. That choice solves a problem: it seems useful to have something like that that goes back maybe one or two Bull/Bear cycles but not over a large number of cycles (such as to the beginning of the 20th century, which my old card did): because technology evolves faster than human nature, and Du Market is made of both.

Sectors also get blurred over time: would you put a company like Amazon in the Retail sector or the Technology sector? When I had my old market performance card, Amazon didn't exist.
