Etrade has its rules, and we don't know what they are for companies they broker for. Etrade would not be giving up its commissions unless there was a valid reason. After all, that's what they do.
So - there is something about VRUS that violates some rule OR vrus asked them to halt trading, which is unlikely. So, before berating etrade, learn what the problem is. It could also be some problem with VRUS's MM.
No brokerage just stops trading a stock just because it wants to. And all brokerages have their rules. Many of them won't even trade any pink sheet that is delinquent in reporting. Etrade doesn't do that, which is one reason I've been with them over 10 years. I have never seen this kind of stoppage before, but sooner or later, the reason will become known.
