buying back a few shares costs much less than a meaningful cash dividend.
But that's the pitfall. If they repurchase "a few" shares then it will have an adverse effect. They will lose credibility. Every Q-report will be a disappointment.
Whereas with a quarterly cash dividend, no matter how small it is, they will gain credibility.
I'm not saying they have the money for this. The company did! And they will, if they do the right things.
