#56950 RE: trueblue #56943

Everyone knew the cannon "find" was fake....There

are MULTIPLE sources on that.

HTQ tried to remove it because Florida wouldn't give them a recovery permit after over a decade of exploration of the site.

The PR was nothing but hype.

EXCITING ARTIFACTS PULLED UP DURING FIRST MELBOURNE BEACH DIVE

Terry Tate, project manager commented “I can hardly believe I felt the cannon as I pushed my hand through the sand on one of the mag targets we had analyzed. This is the first canon I have ever found, and I hope finding it on our first day of testing is a good omen.”

It should have read just like the report to the Bureau.

The first order of investigation for Seafarer’s Quest was the conformation of the cannon’s current location and any features which remained on the site. This would normally have been considered an important marker for the investigation of the wreck; however, we had heard through various sources that the cannon had been moved from its original location. After relocating the cannon (see Figure 1 below) and investigating the immediate vicinity the validity of the move became apparent. No other shipwreck associated artifacts were found.
