What is the resistance? $0.55? Someone go out and start a rumor that the O1000 can hold 30 months of songs with the new 100 gig hard drive.

moxa1...if this is the case....

"Perhaps, just perhaps, the end user (whatever brand it turns out to be) uses this other Asian OEM to manufacture their devices."

Then why even have the 3rd rate PUMP PR? If that was the case, why would that detail need to announced months ahead of time in a 3rd rate PR? Just doesn't make sense.

And by the way, re-read the EDIG speak of that PUMP PR. There is nothing in that PR that states there actually is an "end user" at this point.

to your other points:

"Digitalway is making the IFE device and the larger 01000."

I am sure that with whatever small amount they make from the 1000 IFE devices they are producing and the way the larger O1000 has BOMBED in the market place, Digitalway is more than thrilled!!!

"What makes you think they are entitled to make the smaller model? "

Nothing in my post suggested that they had the right, and since they are now going ahead with a Cornice player, they could probably care less.

But if what you are suggesting, that they only have the rights to the larger player, and EDIG bypassed them with the smaller player, that makes the question in my post even more valid!! How do you think the folks at Digitalway feel about that??

It's important to remember that the Odyssey 1000 was jointly developed with Digitalway and was the first product produced under a strategic development agreement between the 2 companies. DW did the industrial design. It would seem that DW also shares ownership of the Odyssey 1000 referemce design with e.Digital and would be finacially involved in any licensing of it. e.Digital supplied MicroOS and Digitalway's "award-winning engineering team" designed the device.

From the July 2002 PR

The Odyssey 1000 sets the standard by which all other portable entertainment products will now be judged. It is the result of our first joint project with our strategic development partner Digitalway. It combines an elegant, world class industrial design from Digitalway’s award-winning engineering team with e.Digital’s state-of-the-art, patented audio technology.
