Not necessarily. If I’m an employee and I know where this stock is headed, shares would be better than cash in the long run because I’ll get more out shares than cash any day.

But defending this dopes but most corporations give their bonuses as stock options. At least you should be happier to see companies give bonuses as stock as it insensitivizes employees to help raise the PPS.
Cash option is an easy out and could just as easily signal shadiness
