The Senate has changed a few times over history, this is just another change due to the extreme partisan reality that we live in. In the early days any Senator could block things with a filibuster and there was no way to invoke cloture but then in the early 1900s they changed the rules to 2/3 majority to invoke cloture and then later to 60 and now a simple majority. It’s just the nature of politics.
I think this whole idea of delaying AFTER a detailed hearing is stupid
Just vote and let the people’s representatives decide once the hearing is done
But the I am English - you might think Parliament is not distinguishing itself right now but I think it is doing great. Brexit ain’t going to happen after secondcreferendum that is coming
