That curve in the drill pipe is not insignificant is several ways. I wonder if the drill angle went straight out from the curve, or if they were somehow able to straighten it back to it's original projected path. Me thinks not. So that may have altered the drill direction considerably. The 3d seismic will help.

How deep can you 'see' with 3D seismic?

I agree with the 'typical sense of humor' observation.

Looking now for a prior drill depth story on another well.

Have to look for that answer on Leviathan and Tamar drill depths.

1,500 meters and 1,700 meters water depth respectively (to the UW deck), if I remember correctly.
