The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides, "excessive bail shall not be required." But wait...It does not say that bail must be granted. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the Constitution permits holding a defendant without bail pending a criminal trial under certain conditions. However, if bail is granted, it shall not be excessive.

Bail is not meant to act as pre-trial punishment or as a fine. After all she is innocent; just ask her.

One of the exceptions where bail can be granted, assuming it is not a violent crime, is length of time until trial.

Where she can afford to live is not a concern to the Courts, provided she stay within the Jurisdiction.
