I don't know how you got to 609 shares at the end, but my example did close the loop by buying and selling a total of 1374 shares. Of course the $ variance at the end (+2773.25) is profit!
note: the number of shares left unbalanced reflects the $$$ sold, not the number of shares sold!
Of course, but my example only illustrated the LIFO movement of shares. Certainly the corresponding $ would go along, but I felt that if the solution could be found via the shares, a corresponding table of $ could be driven by that (with the prices being the connection between the two).
I'm probably not explaing myself very well again.
Do yourself a favor and go for a percentage approximation! Please!! I cry for you when I see this kind of thing.
Don't cry for me (isn't that a song title?) Let it drop. I'll proceed with my spreadsheet assuming each Sell is always for fewer shares than last Buy (see previous post).
