Smh, short INTEREST is NOT the same as short VOLUME.
Short volume as stated is meaningless as it only represents partial data. You have to post the FTD data after settlement to understand the full picture. YET that is never done, short volume is thrown out to see what will stick.
No broker dealer will ever purchase shares from a seller before selling to the buyer and risk being stuck with worthless shares. They will sell open first to the buyer and then buy from the seller to avoid such risk, aka Riskless Principal.
As I said, short volume is meaningless data.
