It pays to remember the PLUG & Amazon, when they began their relationship, also signed a "Technology Development agreement."
That was left loosely defined, but the fact that they did it means something.

They could have simply signed a deal to buy PLUG's products, convert their Distribution Centers, etc, without signing the Tech Development Agreement, but that is not what they chose to do, they included it instead.

This tells me Amazon is intended to explore other applications for PLUG's fuel cell technology in their operations, and future plans.
