The study or reporting of the study doesn't mention the type of sugar used. This is a problem. Since early 1970's, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has replaced cane sugar or beet sugar in soda drinks in a lot of places. This is a Swedish study. Their sodas might or might not contain HFCS as the primary sweetener. The study mentions that people who "added sugar five times a day to their drinks" like coffee had a higher incidence of cancer. Five times a day? Maybe it was the coffee, not the sugar. Maybe it was those trans-fatty Danish (!) pastries they ate with the coffee?! I've learned to take these "studies" with a grain of sugar, er, salt. LOL!!!
