You have it backwards... Digitalway does not use e.Digital as a contract manufacturer, e.Digital uses Digitalway as a contract manufacturer.

Semantics, my dear friend, semantics; though I believe the point was well understood.

e.Digital is placing itself in the role of a liaison between CE retailers/wholesalers and the manufacturers.

You want to get a MP3 to market fast without going through the entire product development cycle? e.Digital will license you a design and have that design manufactured for you via their relationship with DigitalWay. Same with IFE, APS and the mystery Asian OEM. Though APS is the "point of sale" into the market in this situation while e.Digital is supplying the design and handling the manufacturing logistics.

e.Digital CONTRACTS manufacturing... just as a contractor in the home building industry would contract the supplies, design and labor.

It's a position that e.Digital finds itself in, not by choice, but by necessity. They ain't got no money. Based on the numbers we have seen so far, e.Digital isn't getting much from licensing their designs and the margins on quarterbacking the product development cycle are razor thin. e.Digital is trying to pick up pennies left over from from inefficiencies throughout the supply chain. Tough racket, especially in consumer electronics and moreso when dealing with Asian manufacturers.
