How likely is it that Big Tobacco has patents or trade secrets that can lower nicotine using newer GE methods like zinc finger, talen, and Crispr?

Very unlikely and they've admitted it. They said it would take them 20 years to develop the technology and XXII called them out on it on a response to the FDA
